Nights Available During the 2022 Red Nose Quinte Campaign
Red Nose Quinte operates on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from November 25 to December 31st.
You may add dates during the campaign if you find you have more availability later.
Please mark "Y" on the dates you wish to Volunteer ONLY.
Please contact the Volunteer Co-ordinator regarding any changes to your availability.
We appreciate your interest in volunteering, HOWEVER if you are unsure of which nights you wish to volunteer for we kindly ask that you postpone applying until such time you know.

Volunteer Duties (Check duties that you are interested in)

Escort Driver Escorts the driver and navigator to and from each client destination
Must have a vehicle to do the escorting
Must be 19 years of age or older
Must have valid driver’s license
Must have valid / current automobile insurance
Must carry license and insurance with them while volunteering
Driver Drives the client’s vehicle.
Checks with the client to see insurance documentation.
Ensures vehicle is cleared of snow/ice and is fit for driving
Must be 21 years of age or older
Must have valid driver’s license
Must carry license and insurance with them while volunteering
Navigator Rides with the Driver in the client's vehicle.
Communicates with the Dispatcher by radio or cell phone to coordinate the next
pick-up location or to report any incidents.
Completes the Telephone/Dispatch Forms; recording times, kilometers
traveled, number of passengers, amount of donations, etc.
Submits documentation& donations to Cashier/Office Manager nightly
Must be 19 years of age or older
Must be personable in dealing with clients
Welcome Desk
- Greeter
Registers volunteers as they arrive -sign in and draws. Explains office layout and
practices. Directs volunteers to the Office Manager as needed.
Assists Red Nose Chair with Team set up as required.

Must be personable and friendly with volunteers
Note: Usually only works the earlier part of the evening and may leave once all teams have arrived
Kitchen/Food
Coordinator
Picks up food items, drinks & snacks.
Makes coffee, tea and picks up the meal as provided. Keeps kitchen, food serving
tables and volunteer tables neat & tidy.
Stocks fridges with drinks & water Puts out snacks & food for volunteers
Manages garbage & recycle bins.
Reports to the Treasurer or Office Manager for funds as required.
Must be 19 years of age or older

Note: Usually only works the earlier part of the evening and may leave after meal is set out - usually around 11 p.m.

Receives calls from clients. Completes

Shift start is 9 p.m. at the earliest. Majority of the activity is once the Teams return to Headquarters at the end of the evening. Could be as late as 4 a.m.

Volunteer Commitment and Declaration
I agree to:  
  Take all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of my team and of Operation Red Nose clients by complying with, among others, the highway Safety Code (speed limits, seatbelts, parking, etc). Operation Red Nose is not responsible for any tickets received during the course of my volunteer duties.
a)
Comply with the Operation Red Nose code of ethics.
b)
Sobriety: I must not consume any alcohol or cannabis on the day I work with Operation Red Nose.
c)
Confidentiality: All information about Operation Red Nose clients and volunteers that is disclosed to me will remain confidential and will not be used for any purpose other than fulfill the mandate conferred upon me. I will also not disclose any details with other volunteers that could be used to identify a client or volunteer.
d)
Courtesy: I will show patience and courtesy toward clients at all times.
e)
Free Service: Operation Red Nose is a free service. I will not solicit donations, but if clients wish to make a donation I will take them.
f)
Fatigue: Operation Red Nose volunteers must often deal with fatigue, and its effects at night must not be underestimated. Therefore, I will not overestimate my capabilities and if necessary take a nap before reporting for duty as an Operation Red Nose volunteer.
g)
Mutual Respect: All Operation Red Nose volunteers deserve my full respect and consideration.
h)
Return to Operation Red Nose all donations, tips and gifts given to me while a volunteer
If I do not honour my commitment, Operation Red Nose reserves the right to terminate my participation as a volunteer for the current and future campaigns. The decision of Operation Red Nose is final.

ALL Volunteers - Police Checks are Required:
All Red Nose Quinte Volunteers require an up to date (within the last 3 months) Police Check. For Volunteers who applied for a new Police Check after November 5th Operation Red Nose may be reimburse up to $15.00 towards the cost. Reimbursement will take place after the first Volunteer shift is completed and they produce their receipt (dated after Nov 5, 2022). An individual may begin volunteering prior to receiving their Police Check by showing their receipt and signing a waiver declaration.
NEW Volunteer is still required to show their police check when they receive it.

Returning Volunteers
All returning Volunteers will be required to sign a declaration on the first evening of volunteering indicating that no changes have occurred concerning their previous Police Check and they are not currently under criminal or penal accusations; and furthermore there are no outstanding or pending warrants or charges that will affect their previous Police Records Check.
